The Butterfly Run-Advocating for Children’s Mental Health

This year the Parallel Path team participated in the virtual Butterfly Run in support of the On Our Sleeves movement created by our client partner, Nationwide Children’s Hospital. The Butterfly run, presented by the Big Lots Foundation is a community 5K fitness event thrown to grow awareness, break stigmas, and ultimately raise funds to accelerate pediatric mental health research.

Did you know that one in five children is living with a mental illness? What’s even more troubling- only one child psychiatrist is available for every 15,000 children under the age of 18. Due to the lack of awareness and healthcare resources, these children are often overlooked and are not able to receive the help they desperately need. The On Our Sleeves movement and the Butterfly Run was created to break the silence and to offer hope to families who are struggling with this issue.

The event took place virtually across the country on October 10th, 2020 and continued to fundraise for On Our Sleeves until November 10th. In total, the event raised $145,000, exceeding their original goal of $125,000!

The employees at Parallel Path reached our goal as well. With the help of our company promising to match all employee donations, our team was able to donate over $1,000 to the cause! All the proceeds raised will be donated to the On Our Sleeves movement, funding new research which will be shared globally to improve outcomes for children everywhere.

A huge thank you to everyone who helped support this amazing cause! If you would like to learn more about how you can get involved, visit www.onoursleeves.org/get-involved.
