Brand SERP audit questions
About the audit
What is a brand SERP?
A brand SERP is the results page someone sees when they search your brand name. Jason Barnard coined the term. Parallel Path's Holistic Search Framework treats it as the brand intent stage, the highest-intent moment in search, where paid and organic both have a job to do.
What does a brand SERP audit include?
Parallel Path's audit reviews:
- How much of page one your brand controls
- Sitelinks accuracy and coverage
- Knowledge Panel presence and accuracy
- AI Overview inclusion
- FAQ rich results
- Image and video packs
- People Also Ask
- Social profiles
- App and store listings
- Third-party profiles such as Crunchbase and G2
- Irrelevant or negative listings and spam sites
It groups them into three areas: SERP features, competitor intrusion, and paid vs organic coverage.
How is a brand SERP audit different from an AI visibility audit?
An AI visibility audit checks whether AI tools mention your brand. A brand SERP audit covers the whole results page for your name, AI Overviews included, plus your ads, organic listings and the competitors bidding on you. Third-party sites matter in both: research presented at Content Jam found about 85% of AI brand mentions come from sites the brand doesn't own.
How long does a brand SERP audit take?
Foundational takes 3 days, Strategic 5, and Advanced + Testing Strategy 5 to 8. If you run the incrementality test afterward, it runs 7 to 30 days depending on your click volume.
How is pricing determined?
Tier sets most of it. The rest depends on the size of your brand, how much branded search volume it gets, and for the testing tier, how long the test runs. Your branded query universe, every search that includes your brand name, products or taglines, sets the scope.
What happens after the audit?
You keep the scorecard and the Protection Plan. Implementation runs under a new scope, usually a retainer with our marketing and media practice, on the plan's cadence: weekly checks on competitor ads, a monthly SERP snapshot and a full refresh each quarter. Testing-tier clients can run the incrementality test as a follow-on.
Working on your brand SERP
How do you get a Knowledge Panel on Google?
Google builds Knowledge Panels from what it understands about your brand, and you can't buy one. You raise your odds with consistent facts across your site, Organization schema, your About page and the third-party profiles Google trusts. "Evaluating, you know, your about us page is actually really important," says Jenna Kobryn.
How do you claim or edit a Knowledge Panel?
Search your brand, open the panel and choose "Claim this knowledge panel." Google asks you to verify through an official account it recognizes. Once verified, you can suggest changes.
How do you get sitelinks in Google search?
Google generates organic sitelinks on its own. A clear site structure, descriptive internal links and clean page titles make the right pages more likely to appear. Paid sitelinks are separate; you set those in Google Ads.
Can competitors bid on your brand name?
Yes. Google Ads lets advertisers bid on a competitor's brand name as a keyword, and trademark rules limit the name in ad text. The audit shows who bids on your name, how often they appear above you and what their ads say.
